JOB TITLE: Industrial Relations Officer

REFERENCE NO: NSML/2010/003

LOCATION: NSML Head Office – Lagos



JOB DESCRIPTION: 

1. The appointee will monitor and implement the NLNG Seafarers COS, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Nigerian ratings, in line with International Labour Organistion (ILO), International Transport Federation (ITF) NAMASA rules arid requirements for Maritime Labour. 

2. He/she will monitor arid foster/ensure a harmonious relationship amongst the Nigerian rating on BGT ships.

THE DUTIES:

The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
 
1. Initiate the review of Shipboard officers Conditions of services periodically in line with CBA and current realities,
 
2. Participate in the Industrial Relations Meetings to handle concerns of seafarers,
 
3. In line with Fleet Managers requirements, draft and review procedures / work instructions for the administration of shipboard personnel,
 
4. Assist in the development of guidelines for the management of NSML’s seafarers’ rights and obligations under the various International Maritime Labour Organisation Laws, Merchant Navy Code of Conduct, Fleet Management Agreements, NSML Conditions of Service etc.
 
5. Participate in official visits by NSML personnel to NSML fleet personnel at home or hospital
 
6. Assist in promoting harmonious relationships between the company, industrial unions, and other organizations that deal with wellbeing of seafarers.
 
7. Assist in evaluating the performance of cadets, investigate issues / prepare disciplinary/grievances case files for senior management consideration and implement decisions for improved performances



THE CANDIDATE:

The right candidate should posses the requirement below:
 
1. Possess a good university degree in Humanities or Social Sciences.
 
2. Have 3-5 years’ cognate experience in HR practice 3 years’ of which must have been spent as officer of core personnel/ HR function n a reputable organization preferably in an oil & gas company
 
3. Be a good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
