THE ORGANIZATION:
The USAID supported Malaria Action Programme for States (MAPS), is a 5 years project which is expected to take on the USAID’s mandate of improving malaria control at scale in seven states. Activities on the MAPS project has commenced in the three Nigerian States namely; Cross-River, Nasarawa and Zamfara with expansion to additional states.
Health Partners International (HPI), one of the implementing partners of the MAPS programme, now seeks to employ a professional in the area of general financial management and administration for the project.
POST TITLE: Finance and Administrative Officer:
JOB LOCATION: Abuja
- This position will be based in the programme head office in Abuja and report to the Capacity Building Advisor also based in the head office.
- The Finance and Administrative officer will work closely with the State teams in managing their financial transactions.
- He/She will be directly responsible for maintaining overall accounts of the MAPS Capacity Building funds at the head office and all its focal States.
- The office holder will ensure effective management of the Capacity Building Funds, prepare and manage its budget, process invoices, make payments and monitor all expenditure for all Capacity Building activities.
- He/She will provide support for coordinating all administrative and logistics functions in the programme as may be required from time to time.
OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the National Capacity Building Advisor in planning and developing of programme budgets for capacity building;
- Implement HPI/MAPS financial policies and procedures as directed by the Capacity Building Advisor and the HPI finance team based in the UK office;
- Implement HPI/MAPS procurement policies and procedures, including obtaining and reviewing quotes prior to presenting contracts to the National Capacity Building Manager;
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions in accounting system.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
- Candidate(s) must hold a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or Financial Management is required. S/he must have a minimum of 5-years managerial experience in Accounting with 3-years experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate must have excellent hands-on knowledge of Microsoft office tools and accounting soft-wares, preferably in the use of Ms. Excel and QuickBooks. S/he must have prior experience in office management including good communication and negotiation skills. Previous working experience in a donor funding environment will be an added advantage.
TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The appointment term will be a period of 4.5 years for the position, with an initial 6 months probationary period. The programme offers very competitive salary packages. Local terms and conditions will apply.
