Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Latest Jobs in Nigeria: Recruitment for Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, Operations and Technology

THE ORGANIZATION:

Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) is a leading payments and settlement institution in Nigeria. Established in 1993, the Company is jointly owned by all licensed banks, including Central Bank of Nigeria and Discount Houses. It was set up as a Banking Industry Shared- Service to streamline inter-bank payments and settlement mechanisms, and to promote electronic payments in Nigeria. The Company also provides the infrastructure for automated processing, settlement of payments and funds transfer between banks, stockbrokers, discount houses and card companies.

NIBSS is currently implementing key strategic initiatives aimed at re-positioning and transforming the Company as a world-class payment and  settlement institution. In line with this drive, the Company desires to recruit suitably qualified, competent and self-motivated individuals to fill the following management positions:

POST TITLE:   Chief Executive Officer (ES00614)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing effective day-to-day operations of NIBSS and ensuring attainment of strategic goals and targets,
  • He/she will be an expert in the payments space and will lead NIBSS in executing its mandate, as a critical enabler towards the realization of the country’s payment systems vision,
  • Specifically, the ideal candidate will:
  • Define NIBSS’ strategy in context of its vision for the Nigerian payment system, and developing a clear roadmap for its attainment,
  • Drive on-going improvement of the Company’s business model to ensure maximum productivity and sustainable growth,
  • Driving on-going improvement of the organization’s business model to ensure maximum productivity and revenue,
  • Establish long-term partnerships with business partners that enhance the Company’s profitability and market position,
  • Provide -financial leadership by managing budgets, setting up effective financial controls, and monitoring long-term strategic fiscal plans.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:
  • A good first degree in any related discipline (Management, Economics or Engineering). Relevant post-Graduate degree(s) such as MBA will be a distinct advantage,
  • Minimum of 10 years’ senior management experience in payments or related industry,
  • Expert knowledge and appreciation of the payments business, including emerging payment trends, regulatory policies, emerging payment methods and schemes,
  • Visionary and strategic thinker,
  • Proven track record of achievement and contribution- to the development of the payment industry, including systems, policies and procedures,
  • Excellent leadership and experience in general management/board level roles, with track record of achievement/results,
  • Well-honed skills to persuade, influence, negotiate, manage and sustain successful relationships both internally and externally.

POST TITLE:   Executive Director, Operations and Technology (ES00615)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of NIBSS operations and technology, including technology infrastructure, application integration, operations certifications, network management, security and anti-fraud,
  • He/she will provide global technical and strategic direction for a highly service-oriented NIBSS IT and Operations, and ensure smooth operations and high-availability of NIBSS infrastructure, including all systems and applications, a stable operating environment, and excellent operational service in line with SLAs provided to customers. Specifically, the ideal candidate will:
  • Identify and implement strategies that will deliver appropriate technology infrastructure and services to the business in a cost effective manner, and to support the overall Company strategy,
  • Oversee the development and implementation of standards, processes, methodologies and metrics in support of the Company’s objectives, including continuous process re-engineering and automation as appropriate,
  • Continually engage internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and effectively translate them into technical and operational requirements,
  • Stay abreast of technology trends in the payments industry, and make recommendations that will improve customer service, drive adoption of electronic payments, reduce costs and/or provide a competitive advantage.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:
  • A good first degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field from a reputable institution,
  • Relevant, post-graduate degree(s) and/or professional certifications will be an added advantage,
  • Minimum of 10 years’ cognate experience in telecommunications, banking, electronic payments experience; proven leadership and experience in operations / IT management roles,
  • Demonstrable track-record of results in managing/overseeing the management of mid to large-scale, complex, and cross-functional IT related projects, and ability to work effectively in a high-pressure/ demanding environment,
  • Strategic, with a service orientation mindset and excellent, leadership, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
