AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) Latest Jobs: Recruitment for 4 Job Positions (NGO)

THE ORGANIZATION:

AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN), is a non-governmental donor-funded organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, care and support of HIV?AIDS in Nigeria.  

Since 2001 we have worked closely with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, university teaching hospitals and other non-governmental organisations to fight the HIV scourge.

APIN’s goal is not just to contribute to the reduction of the rate of growth of the HIV
epidemic in Nigeria, but also to the ultimate reversal of its course Our prevention, treatment, care and support activities currently span forty-two sites in ten states of the Federation and are coordinated from our offices in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan.

We are seeking qualified and suitable candidates to assume the following roles in our Abuja and Lagos Offices;

POST TITLE:   Senior Database Programmer (Abuja)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The position holder will lead the database management team to support the maintenance of existing database platforms and to develop new ones to meet new donor data reporting requirements,
  • Support the maintenance of existing programme databases and utilities on the file maker Pro platform,
  • Lead the design of new database utilities on the File maker Pro platform in response to programme needs,
  • Design new database applications and utilities on other platforms apart from Pile maker Pro in response to programme,
  • Design and implement in conjunction with other members of me strategic information team; capacity building plans for data managers of subcontractor sites,
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of data cleaning strategies at the central office and subcontractor sites,
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • A degree in the Physical Sciences or Engineering with professional certifications in database management software (DBMS) like SQL, Delphi, SQLite, Oracle, MySQL, a second degree in Information Technology/Computer Science will be an added advantage; 
  • At least 5 years cognate work experience, three (3) of which must be in creating scripts in a development environment, testing scripts in a quality assurance environment and implementing large updates on databases.
TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

The ideal job holder is expected to possess the following competencies:
  • Ability to provide technical support in developing and maintain database applications
  • Ability to maintain relational databases, including backup and recovery, schedule jobs, problem diagnosis perform tuning implement data models and database design,
  • Ability to translate business/process requirements into structured programming,
  • He or she must be able to think logically and be able to communicate clearly with other members of the database management team,
  • Ability to resolve database capacity issues,
  • Ability to work under pressure and easy adaptability,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse person groups,
  • Willingness to do a considerable amount of local travel.

POST TITLE:   Database Associate (Lagos)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The job holder will provide hands-on support to the management of the program’s database at both the office and sites level,
  • Carry out routine data cleaning activities,
  • Analyze and summarize sites’ error logs on a monthly basis, highlighting emergent technical assistance needs as well as track sites’ usage and response to database error logs,
  • Provide online and onsite technical assistance to data management teams at the program sites,
  • Work closely with the Database Specialist to ensure data are of acceptable quality and standard,
  • Carry out data quality assessments in conjunction with M&E officers,
  • Contribute to the regular review of data management standard operating procedures (SOP) and the sites assessment tools,
  • Support the development and maintenance of programme utilities.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Candidate must possess a B.Sc. or HND in Computer Science or Information Technology with 3 minimum of 2 years cognate experience in database management.
TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to use own initiative,
  • Ability to write/develop programmes for database management and analysis,
  • Good knowledge of the nature of HIV/AIDS data as well as data management policies and procedures of APIN and program sites,
  • High level of data security consciousness,
  • Computer literacy/skills In usage of personal productivity tools (Microsoft Word. Excel, PowerPoint internet browsing, emailing .etc.).

POST TITLE:   HR Advisor (Abuja)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The job holder will have responsibility for providing a wide range of support in the human resource and organizational development functions,
  • Support and monitor the implementation of organizational effectiveness initiatives and render report on progress being made,
  • Actively support change management programmes and activities,
  • Work closely with the Human Resource & Benefits Manager to monitor and benchmark HR systems and practices in peer organizations and report new practices for possible  adoption,
  • Monitor adherence to personnel policies and code of conduct and render periodic reports on the level of compliance,
  • Support the development and alignment of performance management prograrnme with the key organizational goals,
  • Provide necessary assistance and make contributions to the planning and implementation of HR improvement and other related projects, including the employee performance management system.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:  
  • A first degree in the Social Sciences, the Humanities or any other relevant first and membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM); 
  • At least four (4) years cognate experience, preferably in the development sector.
TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to use own initiative,
  • Report writing skill,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Knowledge of HR best practices,
  • Basic knowledge of the Nigerian Labour Law,
  • Good Oral and written communication skills,
  • Computer literacy/skills m usage of personal productivity tools (Microsoft Word. Excel. PowerPoint. Internet browsing, emailing. etc.).

POST TITLE:   Finance Associate (Abuja)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The position holder will be solely responsible for overseeing and reviewing the financial activities of NGOs and CBOs as partners of APIN, for the management of petty cash and some banking activities as the need arises,
  • Collate and review financial reports from program partners (CBOs and FBOs),
  • Post financial reports to QuickBooks,
  • Prepare reimbursement schedules to partners,
  • Manage the office petty cash’,
  • Carry out reconciliation of site advances account.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Candidate must possess a B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, with a minimum of 3 years cognate experience in a donor funded program.
TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to use own initiative,
  • Ability to use Quickbooks Accounting software,
  • Mastery of rudiments of accounting,
  • Eyes for details,
  • Good oral and written communication skills,
  • Computer literacy/skills in usage of personal productivity tools (Microsoft Word. Excel, PowerPoint, Internet browsing, emailing, etc).
