The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the leading UN organization in Reproductive Health and Population and Development, is recruiting personnel to fill the positions below:

POST TITLE:   ICT Associate

POST LEVEL: ICS-06

TYPE CONTRCAT: Fixed Term

DUTY STATION: Kaduna

DURATION: One year, with possible renewal subject to performance

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Head DO, IT Associate provides functional leadership in the  Management of ICT Tools and Infrastructure for the Sub-Office. S/he ensure that ICT Support services as well as  deploy proactive cutting edge skills to ensure that  ICT services meet the evolving  needs the sub-officer.

He/She takes a client-oriented results focused approach to interpreting the organizations MIS rules, procedures and guidelines in service of the  country programme, providing  ICT support and guidance to the Sub-office and UNFPA supported projects.
  • Adapts processes and procedures, anticipates and manages operational requirements of programme/project ICT infrastructural systems and processes for the Sub-Office and UNFPA supported projects,
  • Implements corporate systems and applications in support of ICT management and Sub-office operations;  creates systems and mechanisms for effective management of Sub-Office ICT resource. Builds capacities of UNFPA staff and partners in relevant ICT skills; proposing technologies, tools and methods to support programme delivery,
  • Ensures Network and Internet Connectivity and other data facilities and messaging applications,
  • Provides support to the analysis of programme data; template design, instrument coding, data capture,  consistency checks, Analysis, tabulation plans and customized table generation as required
  • Manages the development and implementation of local computer application(s) required for effective database management,
  • Ensures seamless introduction of specific computer hardware and software. Maintain software definition Library  ensuring license compliance for all installed software. Harmonizes software versions and ensure compliance with UNFPA specifications,
  • Reviews and prepares material for common systems, activities relating to common INICT services and system, representing UNFPA in related Inter-agency meetings and working groups
  • Undertake any other assignments as may be required by the Head of D0, Deputy Representative and Representative.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate should possess the followings:
  • Be a Nigerian National (male or female)
  • Have a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science
  • Have five seven years cognate experience
  • Have proficiency in IT Network Management
  • Have working knowledge in computing skills in all software packages, is essential,
  • Professional qualifications will be an added advantage and work history in the UN system is desirable.

POST TITLE:   Programme Assistant

POST LEVEL: ICS -05

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed Term

POST NUMBER:   Kaduna

DURATION: One year, with possible renewal subject to performance

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the General supervision of the Head, sub-office, Kaduna the  programme Assistance, supports the design, planning  and management of the  sub-office by providing data inputs, providing  logistical support, monitoring project implementation and following  up on recommendations. S/he is instrumental in facilitating programme/project implementation using and developing  appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring  compliance  with established  procedures.
  • He/She works closely with programme and project staff providing secretarial and administration support to programme implementation,
  • Participates in the identification and  formulation of country programme and projects, by compiling  and working plans and prepares tables and statistical data,
  • Supports the evaluation of project and programme activities, establishing and implementating mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results, conducting field visits, participating in review meetings and evaluation missions and  prepare regular inputs to status and progress reports. Facilitates analysis of factors affecting the achievement of results, recommends corrective action and follow up on recommendations
  • Ensure proper documentation and processing of approved implementing Partners Annual Work Plan and quarterly FACE Forms to relevant Officers and Output Managers for necessary action as well as undertake related ATLAS functions
  • In coordination with the sub-office, supports routine implementation of assigned projects, coordination the delivery of project inputs, ensuring participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours.
  • Provides logistics and administrative support to sub-office, inclusive of coordinating review meetings/workshops/events and other programmatic functions
  • Contributes to the creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches of country office and drafting relevant materials for dissemination
  • Supports the advocacy and resource mobilization strategy of the sub-office by compiling and  synthesizing relevant background material for use in discussions and public events.
  • Undertake any other assignments as may be required by the Head of DO, Deputy Representative and Representative.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate should possess the followings:
  • Be a Nigerian national (male or female),
  • Have  a Bachelor degree of  Higher National Diploma  in Secretarial Administration, Public  Administration or in a  related field,
  • Have  five experience in the public and private sector,
  • Be fluent in oral and written  English,
  • Have  working  knowledge in computing skills in all software packages, is essential.
