IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute) / FDC (International Center for Soil Fertility and Agricultural Development seeks qualified candidate(s) to fill the below post within Nigeria Strategy Support Program of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). 
  
POST TITLE: Program Assistant

LOCATION: Abuja

LEVEL: National

Within the framework of the NSSP, IFDC/IFPRI seeks a qualified candidate to fill the post of Program Assistant within the Nigeria Strategy support Program of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the program Leader. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

1. Enhance knowledge through information, data, and tools for the analysis, design, and implementation of agricultural and rural development polices and strategies in Nigeria,
 
2. Strength the capacity of government agencies, research institutions, and other to carry out and  use applied research  for agriculture and rural policies and strategies,
 
3. Improve communication between policymakers, policy analysts, and those who benefit from agricultural and rural development policy,
 
4. Plan and execute workshops and related activities,
 
5. Manage office library,
 
6. Maintain office filling systems including electronic files,
 
7. Develop and update office electronic databases,
 
8. Support capacity strengthening and policy research related activities,
 
9. Manage IFPRI-Abuja travel-related activities,
 
10. Prepare reports and letters as needed,
 
11. Perform other administrative and financial tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

The require qualifications for this Program Assistant are:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field,
 
2. Experience working in an administrative support position,
 
3. Strong English writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, collaborators, and the public,
 
4. Demonstrate ability to handle multiple and produce completed products on time,
 
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and knowledge of other database software,
 
6. Self motivated. Innovative spirit and excellent interpersonal and team skills and the ability to work with colleagues from diverse cultures.

THE CANDIDATE:

The candidate will report to the Project Leader.

The Location for the above position is Abuja and the duration is 1 year subject to renewal
