THE COMPANY:

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a US-based international Public Health firm with projects  in thirty countries . JSI provides supply chain management and capacity building services to public sector and Non-governmental organizations. In Nigeria, JSI manages four projects that support access to reproductive health commodities as well as to medicines and supplies for combating HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and avian influenza.
At present , JSI is seeking for candidates to fill the positions below:

POST TITLE: Logistics Advisor, Malaria

NUMBER OF PERSONS REQUIRED: Two (2)

JOB SUMMARY:

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is currently seeking to fill two (2) Logistic Advisor positions to support its USAID Deliver Project logistics technical assistance of the Nigeria Malaria Control Program (NMCP), Specifically, JSI has been tasked to assist the NMCP strengthening procurement and supply management (PSM) systems for malaria commodities

LOCATION:

This  is a full-time position based at JSI Nigeria headquarters in Abuja but will require up to 40% domestic travel.
Applicants must possess the following minimum requirements to apply for any of these positions:

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Candidate must possess an advanced clinical degree or  Masters Degree in Public Health, Pharmacy, Logistics Management, Business Administration, Social Science or related field of  study

2. Three years  of  professional experience in health programs, preferably in health care supply chain management
    3. Proven experience in a  managing Public Health programs or  projects  in Nigeria or  similar environment

    4. Demonstrated ability to monitor, supervise, and  train in health service programs Extensive knowledge of the  Nigeria Public Health sector

    5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills

    6. Excellent technical writing and oral presentation

    7. Proven ability to work in a  professional manner and as part of a  collaborative team

    8. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Specific experience in HIV/AIDS, TB, or Malaria programs is strongly desired
    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Develop and implement join Long-Lasting insecticide Treated Bed Nets (LLIN) campaign distribution work plans in collaboration with JSI staff and partners
      2. Plan and implement LLIN distribution campaigns in collaboration with state  Ministry of Health personnel and other partners

      3. Assess state campaign logistics systems to identify resources and gaps in key areas including storage facilities, transportation, human resources and data management

      4. Train state Malaria Control and other SMOH and LGA personnel in LLIN campaign logistics

      5. Collect, manage, and analyze LLIN logistics data

      6. Monitor LLIN campaign logistics performance

      7. Evaluate campaign implementation and document and apply lessons learned to future campaigns

      8. Lead development of annual project work plans

      9. Provide technical input to development and/or revision of standard Operative Procedures  (SOPs) for LLIN campaign distribution and for routine LLIN resupply

      10. Participate in training federal and state level malaria program and logistics officers in implementing SOPs

      11. Provide support for annual national quantification and procurement planning of commodities for Malaria control

      12. Help manage relationships and maintain routine communications with NMCP, USAID, and all other related stakeholders

      13. Contribute to the writing of routine quarterly and annual reports 

      14. Identify and develop best practices and success stories for JSI Nigeria’s periodic logistics bulletin

      15. Any other duties as assigned.

      POST TITLE: Logistics Advisor, Tuberculosis

      JOB SUMMARY:

      1. JSI is seeking to fill the position of  Logistics Advisor TB. This person will be assigned to the Nigeria Tuberculosis and Leprosy control Program (NTBLCP) office in Kano and will manage TB related logistics activities being implemented by  JSI in Nigeria.
        2. The Logistic Advisor TB will be responsible for managing JSI’s day to day Tuberculosis and Leprosy commodities logistics technical assistance activities, in collaboration with project logistics officers, stakeholders  and partners in Federal and state governments as well as other multilateral, bilateral and NGO stakeholders.
        The Logistics Advisor TB will report to the Associate Director, Public Health

            RESPONSIBILITIES:

            1. Develop and maintain a work plan for USAID /Deliver Project TBL logistics system strengthening activities in collaboration with JSI staff and partners,
              2. Track the reports generated in all 36 states as well as  FCT and ensure their timely submission,

              3. Work with the Federal Ministry of Health to ensure timely access to funds for commodities distribution, 

              4. Collate, enter into a  database and analyze data generated from a Logistic Management Information,

              5. System LMIS and report to partners and stakeholders,

              6.  Analyze data and write reports  on key indicators of system and performance,

              7. Assess stock and storage conditions in stores and service delivery points,

              8 .Monitor and provide mentoring to national logistics officers and state level teams as  appropriate

              9. Assist desk officers to provide supportive supervision to zonal officers and state TBL Coordinators

              10. Support the establishment and  routine meetings of procurement and supply management coordination working groups and committees for TBL commodities

              11. Provide technical leadership and  support for annual national quantification and  procurement planning of TBL commodities, in collaboration with program stakeholders and partners

              12. Facilitate the design and  implementation of assessment and  evaluation studies  and to analyze and present results to stakeholders

              13. Provide technical input to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine PSM activities for TBL logistics system, and participate in developing training curricula and in training federal and state-level program and logistics officers in implementing and monitoring adherence to the SOPs

              14. Provide technical input to the development of training curricula and in training Federal, State, LGA and SDP-level program and logistics officers in implementing and monitoring adherence to TBL logistics SOPs

              15. Collaborate with other JSI project personnel in harmonization efforts for the logistics systems in the health sector in order to establish a harmonized commodity logistics system including LMIS

              16. Work closely with JSI Nigeria management on managing relationships and maintaining routine communications with USAID, NTBLCP, TB-CAP, WHO, and other stakeholders

              17. Identify best practices and success stories for JSI Nigeria’s periodic logistics bulletin

              18. Work with technical assistance providers to deliver high-quality assistance and to facilitate transfer of skills to appropriate local staff

              19. Any other duties as assigned.
