Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Jobs: Vacancy for Head Enforcement & Compliance


Our client is the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the apex regulator of the capital market in Nigeria. SEC’s mission is to develop and regulate a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent and efficient to contribute to the nation’s economic development. Having set some ambitious goals, the Organization is seeking highly motivated and result-oriented professionals to take up various leadership responsibilities:

JOB TITLE: Head, Enforcement & Compliance (ES00579)
 
THE CANDIDATES:
 
The successful candidate will:

1. Reporting to the Executive Commissioner; Legal and Enforcement 

2. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for ensuring that participants abide by the laws and rules governing operations of the market and applying appropriate sanctions for infractions. 

Specifically, the candidate will:
 
1. Coordinate the enforcement of laws and rules governing the market operations
 
2. Liaise with appropriate law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution purposes
 
3. Coordinate the prosecution of companies and individuals involved in criminal activities in the market
 
4. Monitor and ensure compliance of operators and individuals in the market

REQUIREMENTS:
 
1. A good law degree from a reputable institution Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association is essential, 

2. An MBA or any other higher degree will be an added advantage,
 
3. Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ qualification experience in a reputable public or private sector organization with five (5) years’ in financial services industry,
 
4. Knowledge of standards’ development and management of compliance monitoring systems,
 
5. A detailed understanding of the investment and Securities Tribunal (IST) is mandatory,
 
6. Demonstrable track record of success in enforcement and compliance.
 
PERSONAL SKILLS:
 
In addition, eligible candidates for this position must possess:

1. Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills in both formal and informal settings with key stakeholders,
 
2. Excellent leadership, planning and organization, as well as people management skills,
 
3. Excellent relationship management and strategic networking skills at the highest level in both private and public sectors,
 
4. High sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability,
 
5. Proficiency in the use of computer applications.
