THE COMPANY:

A Leading Chemical Company involved in the provision of specialty chemicals and services to the Nigerian Petroleum Industry is currently seeking a leader to manage its SH and E programs for the Nigerian Operations.

POST TITLE:   SH and E Manager -Nigerian

JOB OBJECTIVE:

• Based in Port Harcourt, the ideal candidate will provide local SH and E support to the Company’s Supply Chain as well as Sales and Service management,
• The SH and E Manager will be responsible for planning and managing implementation of global and local SH and E programs,
• This position will also be responsible for the development of local procedures, training, initiatives and communications that support and align with global SH and E guidance,
• The successful candidate will report to the District Manager, Managing Director and Global SH and E Manager.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of first degree with Second Class Upper Division in Science or Engineering discipline,
• Minimum of five (5) years relevant Industry experience as SH and E Coordinator or Manager,
• Knowledge, skills and experience in the practice of SH and E including management system implementation, communication, observation and oral/written skills critical to the satisfactory performance of audits, inspections, investigations, policy/procedures development and presentation of findings and performance,
• Certified Safety Professional or equivalent qualification is preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform risk and impact assessments, SH and E inspections and audits of supply chain and sales and service locations,
• Understand and implement Company’s SH and E Management System, SH and E core principles and ensure alignment with customer policies and principles,
• Conduct or coordinate internal and external legal-, business- and client-required SH and E training courses for employees and subcontractors,
• Implement behavior-based safety programs that include near miss incident reporting, behavioral observation and job safety analysis systems,
• Coordinate with management on the planning and conducting of monthly safety meetings and communication of SH and E alerts, newsletters and goal performance updates.
• Assist management in the development of local SH and E policies, programs and procedures that support and align with Company’s global SH and E Management System
• Prepare local SH and E statistics and update managers, employees and clients on incident trends and progress in achieving established goals and objectives.
