POST TITLE:   Barge Master
DEPARTMENT: Rig Operations

JOB SUMMARY:
  • Ensure that all marine aspects of the rig’s operations are carried out in accordance to statutory and regulatory controls and guidelines,
  • Supervise the operation of the marine department to ensure the safe and efficient running of the rig.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations/Maintenance:
  • Monitor the weather conditions and rig motions – advise OIM on conditions likely to affect drilling operations and seaworthiness of the rig. Authority I
  • Ensure that accurate calculation of load distribution and weights for daily stability reports are maintained. Authority I
  • Coordinate all helicopter and supply boats traffic supervise movement of materials and personnel to and from the rig. Authority I
  • Ensure all navigation equipment is properly maintained and ready for use at all times. Authority I 
  • Monitor quantities of expendables such as fuel, potable water, drill water e.t.c. Authority I
  • Ensure that cranes are in safe working condition. Authority I
  • Ensure all safety equipment, including lifeboats and fire-fighting equipment is maintained in a state of operational readiness at all times. Authority I
  • Actively participate in the daily operations meeting with the OIM and other rig department heads. Authority I
  • Operate and maintain the bulk system as required. Authority II

JOB SUMMARY:
  • A focal point in all efforts to optimize safe operational performance of the rig through continuous improvement,
  • Direct liaison with the Client representatives on all issues related in ensuring that the objectives of the well are being met,
  • Assist in supervising the drilling operations and associated activities,
  • Assist in optimizing the planning of the well construction steps,
  • Meet and exceed KSM’s.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

EHSQ Management:
  • Actively participate at Pre-tour meetings, THINK Drills and risk assessments. Authority I
  • Help and encourage the crews with safe working practices. Authority I
  • Monitor adherence to established procedures and evaluate the Authority II
People Development:
  • Mentor, develop and train Drillers and Assistant Drillers to ensure they are competent to work at their current job level.  Authority II
  • Provide leadership and motivation to rig personnel in the OIM’s absence. Authority II

Operations:
  • Proactive in planning, communicating and anticipating the Client’s needs. Authority I
  • This to include planning for the next 24 to 72 hours, and to assist in ensuring current operations are run as efficiently and safely as possible.
  • Assist in ensuring that the working relationship with the Client is conducive to high operational & safety performance. Authority I
  • Where necessary review the drilling program at the earliest opportunity for Authority I
  • Completeness and suggest improvements. This will bring detailed practical rig knowledge to the well planning and critical to ensure all equipment and tools are available and ready when needed.
  • As required attend onshore client meetings, including pre-spud meetings to Authority II
  • Input practical rig knowledge into the well planning process.
  • To actively participate in daily meetings with the crews at Authority I
  • The start of each shift to review operations for the next 24 to 72 hours with reference to rig target time and implementation of previous lessons learnt and opportunities. Authority I
  • Ensure that the crews are aware of where they are against the plan, e.g. depth vs. time graphs, tripping speeds et cetera. This does not mean that the Performance Toolpusher is responsible for the generation of the depth vs. time curves, KSM’s et cetera. Authority I
  • To be a focal point for, and encourage, any suggestions or idea’s to Authority I
  • Enhance the safety and drilling performance. This can be during pre tour,meetings, safety meetings et cetera. Authority I
  • To assist with the implementation of any “lessons learnt” that are of Authority II
  • Benefit and ensure that feed back is given to the individual crewmembers who have raised lessons and suggestions. Ensure lessons learnt are shared with the Client and Rig Supervisors. Authority I
  • To be at the worksite at all relevant times, assisting and overseeing critical operations. Authority I
  • Plan and supervise equipment preparation for impending drilling operations. Authority I
  • Keep the OIM informed of all events and occurrences likely to cause a deviation from the operational schedule.  Authority I

  • Manages the travel Itinerary of the Managing Director as regards booking of flight tickets, booking of hotel accommodation and preparation of allowances,
  • Attends to all staff needs /requests and channel them to the appropriate services officers within the Group Office.

POST TITLE:   Junior Trader

DEPARTMENT: Trading
   
JOB SUMMARY:
  • The primary function and responsibility of the Trading Department is to act on behalf of clients to buy and sell physical commodities (including Crude Oil, PMS, AGO, DPK and Jet A1, Bitumen, LPFO, Base Oils, Chemicals and other specialty products). 
  • Traders are also responsible for managing risk through the use of various hedging strategies including derivatives (futures and options) that are based on those physical commodities.  
  • In addition, the team sources comprehensive market research (both supply and demand) that provides the Company with required information for developing short- and long-term strategic marketing plans covering origination, marketing and to some extent, wholesale product delivery to clients.
  • The Junior Trader provides analytical, implementation and monitoring support to the Trading Department in ensuring the effective execution of marketing and sales strategies that target potential and existing markets and customers for products and services.  
  • The position incumbent is responsible for transaction processing, documentation support and some level of involvement in the execution and monitoring of daily trades.
  • The role ensures the currency of market, supplier and customer data, and performs required analysis to identify potential risks and other business issues.  
  • The Junior Trader also maintains a very close working relationship with the Legal, Finance and Operations Departments to ensure a seamless process is worked in executing spot and long-term contracts.    
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational:
  • Performs deal validation, analysis and problem identification for executed trades on a daily basis.
  • Reports the daily position and P&L using approved reporting frameworks and reporting systems.
  • Analyses and reconciles daily and month-end P&L information, and verifies data integrity.
  • Performs position scenario analysis based on instructions and under the guidance of Senior Traders.
  • Performs daily market surveys for price discovery with respect to next day trading.
  • Updates market information on electronic trading systems at the instance of Senior Traders.
  • Complies with approved decision-making and monitoring systems, processes, procedures and policies and ensures effective controls are adhered to in handling job duties; maintains the integrity of all transactions by analysing service provisions and agreements for compliance with regulations, federal and local legislation and contract terms.
  • Supports the origination, closing and contract administration of large scale, seasonal, long-term positions; prepares draft bid documents for products traded and submits to the Head, BD & Trading or the Specialties Products Trader for review and approval.
  • Key in trade details into the Trade Software and update throughout transactional cycle
  • Checks and sends all the confirmations produced by the system to the counter parties
  • Collects all incoming confirmations (both third party and returned confirmations) and checks and records against the Trading Book.
  • Collects and checks brokers’ confirmations against the Trading Book contents each morning.
  • Produces and checks trading invoices in association with the Senior Traders.
  • Ensures all trade-related documents are scanned and filed in an organised and systematic manner for easy retrieval whenever needed.
  • Sources and analyses global market and product data, towards identifying excessive exposures; identifies and raises issues to Senior Traders
  • Acts as back-up to Traders.
  • Performs other assigned duties as delegated by the Senior Trader.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 1st degree in Engineering, Finance, Investment Management, Business Administration, Economics or other related degree
  • 0 - 2 years work experience within a reputable and structured organisation (financial institution, energy trading company etc.).
  • Exposure to commodities trading activities is an advantage.
