JOB DESCRIPTION:

 
The role holder is responsible for driving profitable volume growth through new business acquisition and maximizing every customer (both new and existing) engagement. Their focus is on the General Mass Market segment, uncovering customer’s needs and providing them with the right product & service solution from the full range of Consumer Banking products offered. 

In addition to acquiring new to bank customers, the role holder will manage an assigned portfolio of high value customers segment to further deepen existing relationships and grow share of wallet / potential value within the Bank.
 
It is expected for the role holder to be customer centric and provide excellent customer service to complete customers experience. Role holder is also expected to have some knowledge and experience in offering a range of products to meet the customers needs but is unlikely to have the full knowledge and experience to offer all Consumer banking products

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between OCHA and ECOWAS on 05 February 2004 with the following objectives: Enhance the response to humanitarian crisis, contribute to the attainment of lasting peace in the region, improve capacity of ECOWAS in humanitarian action and conflict management, better address the needs of the vulnerable populations, alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies, advocate for the rights of people affected by conflict and natural disasters, promote preparedness and prevention and create an enabling environment for sustainable development. The Liaison function will contribute to strengthening the partnership and engagement with the ECOWAS in order to coordinate principled humanitarian response and effectively engage Member States on disaster preparedness and response and other humanitarian issues with regional implications The Humanitarian Affairs Officer / ECOWAS Liaison Officer will work closely with the Department of Humanitarian and Social Affairs of ECOWAS and coordinate with the Humanitarian support Unit (HSU) within the office of the Resident Coordinator for Nigeria

The Humanitarian Affairs Officer / ECOWAS Liaison Officer will report to the OCHA Head of Regional Office (ROWCA). 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HAO/ECOWAS Liaison Officer will have the following main functions:

1. Engage dialogue with ECOWAS in her/his role of strengthening preparedness and response and provide support on policy and operational aspects relating to acute poverty, complex emergencies and impact on disasters,
2. Participate and support ECOWAS’ initiatives including the measuring of the impact of natural disasters such as floods in West Africa, follow-up on the setup of ECOWAS’ regional stockpile in Mali aswell as any other initiatives related to humanitarian preparedness and response,
3. Assist in the elaboration of ECOWAS MoUs with regional agencies and institutions on DRR/Preparedness and provide training support to the ECOWAS Emergency Response Team,
4. Assist in the development of short and medium-term strategy, policy, planning and priorities, especially in finalizing ECOWAS’ 3-year humanitarian action plan,
5. Maintain day to day and technical liaison with the humanitarian department of ECOWAS aswell as other key entities within the organization and to provide timely and relevant information to the RC and the ROWCA Head of Office on all urgent and  important humanitarian issues with regional implications,
6. Keep abreast of all key developments through regular monitoring and analysis of developments in the member states of ECOWAS and their impact on the humanitarian situation, regional early warning mechanism, development of regional and preparedness in a consistent and well-coordinated manner,
7. Provide regular feedback to ROWCA and use public information and advocacy tools (reports; updates, special bulletins; websites) to keep ECOWAS humanitarian department, the RC and the ROWCA Head of Office, abreast of humanitarian developments and support coordinating plans and resource mobilization efforts for humanitarian activities.

BACKGROUND:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organization of roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, launchings, etc. and provision of logistical support to the events,
  • Assist in the establishment of an electronic photo library,
  • Other relevant tasks as may be assigned by the Communications Specialist and other appropriate senior management staff of the country office,
  • Assist in the regular updating of the UNDP web site and intranet-in-a-box,

The Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) is an advocacy and grant making foundation that is part of the global Open Society Foundations. OSIWA is based in Dakar, Senegal, and works to support the creation of open societies in West Africa marked by functioning democracy, good governance, the rule of law, basic freedoms, and widespread civic participation. It has offices in Abuja, Monrovia, Freetown and Conakry.
OSIWA seeks a dynamic individual as a country coordinator for its Nigeria (Abuja) office to provide a variety of strategic programme implementation services and administrative oversight, supported technically by the OSIWA regional office under the direction of the OSIWA executive director.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall
  • Serve as official representative for OSIWA in Nigeria and where possible, identify opportunities for new partnerships and strategic initiatives;
  • Coordinate and liaise with other OSF Network entities, donors, relevant government agencies and NGOs in Nigeria;
  • Ensure that all strategic obligations are properly carried out and programmatic documents and reports are prepared and submitted to OSIWA regional office;
  • Facilitate field visits from OSI New York, DC, OSIWA regional office, consultants etc to Nigeria;
  • Organise and/or facilitate external and internal missions with regards to reviews, evaluations, project preparations etc;
  • Carry out other activities and assignments as identified by OSIWA’s regional office.
Strategic Program Development and Management
  • Plan and lead OSIWA program initiatives in Nigeria including development of OSIWA Nigeria strategies and policies for support and ensure they are adhered to;
  • Identify emerging opportunities for OSIWA to advance strategic programming goals and obejectives;
  • Assess applications for support and prepare materials, including recommendations for project funding to OSIWA Board;
  • Ensure that the overall program and projects are implemented in accordance with approved program documents, annual plans and budgets;
  • Share information on programs and events in Nigeria to assist other program staff to develop projects and programs within OSIWA and OSF in general;
  • Prepare program strategic materials on Nigeria for OSIWA and OSF publications;
  • Provide up to date information on the current situation and needs of the country for the development of program strategy within OSIWA for Nigeria;
  • Provide strategic leadership and overall supervision of program activities;
  • Visit program areas regularly as well as participate in semi annual and annual reviews.
Financial Management
  • Manage the use of program administration and grant budgets and facilitate annual auditing;
  • Supervise periodic budgeting, accounting and disbursement of funds for the different budgets managed by the Nigeria Office (the general administration and program budget) as well as the budgets of the Open Society Justice Initiative and the Revenue Watch Institute for its Bayelsa Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative Coordinator;
  • Responsible for overseeing the financial flow of the programs and projects and ensure all funds are used and accounted for in accordance with approved budgets and provisions outlined in the program and project documents;
Program and Projects Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Design criteria for evaluating projects supported by OSIWA and ensure timely evaluations; Evaluate the program overall work regularly and use this information to inform future direction of OSIWA;
  • Provide technical quality assurance and in cooperation with OSIWA regional office, develop a context-appropriate streamlined monitoring and reporting system;
  • Consistently monitor projects supported by OSIWA for their effectiveness and ensure timely submission of narrative and financial progress reports as required by OSIWA.
Advocacy, Convening, Networking and Liaising with Stakeholders/Donors and Partners
  • Keep up to date with developments in Nigeria and provide technical guidance and institutional support to OSF Network entities engaging in Nigeria;
  • Identify niche opportunities to support advocacy based on development approaches and collaborate with relevant stakeholders including government and donors in advocating for relevant reforms based on experiences, lessons learned and appropriate methodologies;
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with like like-minded organisations in line with OSIWA Nigeria priorities and plans and convene partners, where necessary to address advocacy challenges;
  • Identify and develop ways to address the technical and organisational needs of partners to develop greater strategy coherence, organisational capacity development;
  • Attend meetings of relevant organizations to keep informed of issues, concerns and needs;
  • Represent OSIWA on donor/development partner coordinating groups;
  • Source for additional funding for programs and activities from relevant agencies.
Grants Administration
  • Maintain proper records on grants such as correspondence and reports on grant usage;
  • Maintain regular contact with projects and address problematic issues with grantees;
  • Work with other colleagues to develop/support projects in Nigeria;
  • Encourage coordination amongst OSIWA grantees;
  • Process new grant application which included obtaining adequate information about these applications to enable informed recommendations to be made to the Board;
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial and narrative reporting from grantees;
  • Review reports from Program Officers.
Management of the OSIWA Program Office
  • Supervision and management of the Nigeria Office staff;
  • Ensure that all OSIWA guidelines and policies are adhered to and implement relevant administrative procedures for the management of the Nigeria Program Office;
  • In compliance OSIWA procedures and cooperation of OSIWA Management, employ local support staff and consultants as required and be responsible for the elaboration of job descriptions, contracts, salaries etc;
  • Draft Terms of Reference for consultants.
OTHER DUTIES:
Other duties as assigned by the OSIWA Executive Director and Management.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • University/graduate degree in relevant field such as legal studies, political science and development studies;
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of French an added advantage;
  • International/regional work experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the NGO community in West Africa, public policy advocacy and Nigeria related work experience will be considered an added advantage;
  • Experience in the management, evaluation and monitoring of programs and projects;
  • Experience in planning and managing budgets and producing narrative and financial reports;
  • Proven organizational capabilities and close attention to detail. Prior office work experience preferred;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and staff management;
  • Pleasant, diplomatic manner and disposition in interacting with senior management, colleagues, government officials and the general public;
  • Integrity, professional discretion and ability to handle confidential matters;
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Extensive computer skills and high comfort level with computer research, database management;

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

OSIWA seeks two advocacy officers for its Dakar Regional and Abuja Offices to provide strategic direction and advisory support on advocacy at the regional level.  S/he identifies opportunities, and then plans and develops strategies for OSIWA advocacy. S/he is responsible for following-up on the execution and ensuring smooth and effective development and implementation of the OSIWA advocacy plan.
The advocacy officers will, under the supervision of the executive director:
  • prepare briefing materials for meetings, summarizing developments and articulating recommendations
  • prepare briefing materials for advocacy on the situation in the country offices, in the regional institutions like ECOWAS, AU, Mano River Union, etc… and potential related travel
  • assist in the production and release of news briefings
  • update briefing materials to reflect new data/research findings/news reports where reliable
  • provide daily/weekly support for international advocates in terms of transmitting political analysis, writing briefing material and other assistance to support international advocacy
  • work with diverse social media and technology tools for dissemination of messages, monitoring of official conduct and mobilization of public opinion
  • plan work with the Open Society Foundations’ international advocates and work with Open Society Foundations programs their outputs—press releases, policy briefs etc.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • 4-6 years relevant work experience and background as an academic, policy analyst or experienced editorial commentator who has worked in an institution that deals in policy advice and analysis; he/she will preferably have direct experience of researching policy issues and producing reports and advice for policy makers to use;
  • Graduate degree in relevant field;
  • NGO or foundation experience preferred. Familiarity with OSIWA work and West Africa context are essential.
  • Excellent written and oral English and French, exceptional analytic capacity and skills;
  • Knowledge of local West African languages desirable
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member and independently, with a high level of self motivation;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced working environment;

BACKGROUND: IPEC, a programme of the ILO, operates in over 80 countries worldwide, its aim at effective abolition of child labour by assisting member states in designing and implementing policies and programmes to prevent and eliminate child labour, including a focus on elimination of the worst forms of child labour.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The Administrative Assistant shall:

1. Provides administrative and financial support to IPEC management and other UPEC staff
 
2. Maintain up to date database and detailed record/files of administrative operations, banks transactions, record of actions, minutes of meetings, seminars etc.
 
3. Undertake logistical, secretarial and protocol functions including travels, lodgings, payment of DSA, drafting of correspondences, documenting of contracts information, verification of works done etc.
 
4. Brief staff, expect and.or consultant on administrative procedures.
 
5. Respond to queries from inside and outside the organization. Participle in internal meetings to provide information on administrative matters. Assist in preparation of projects or programme documents, evaluation and reports
 
6. Perform other activities as may be assigned by the supervisor

EDUCATION: First level university level degree in relevant field

EXPERIENCE: Five years of professional experience in the field

LANGUAGES: Excellent command of English and knowledge of French an asset

COMPETENCIES: The person must have good knowledge of administrative procedures and accounting principles, ability to search and retrieve information from central database and compile reports, ability to operate computer program and software packages of various administrative actions, good drafting skills, ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with officials at all levels and ability to work accurately with administrative data.

OBJECTIVE 1: Mission’s Finance department is properly set-up and coordinated (with the temporary support of Finance & HR Coordinator)

ACTIVITIES:

1. To set up and ensure proper financial management, in liaison with the Managing HQ and CD:
 
2. Collaborate intensively with all staff to ensure the most effective management of contracts,
 
3. Collaborate intensively with all staff to efficiently forecast the budgetary needs of the mission,
 
4. Producing monthly accounts using the accountancy program SAGA and methodology of AAH/USA,
 
5. Controlling the expenses of the mission and strictly manage the funds of the mission’s donor contracts,
 
6. Provision of updates on rate of expenditure of budgets,
 
7. Controlling bank transfers, money withdrawal, ‘in country’ cash management, currency exchanges, etc,

Under the supervision of the Representative, the l Programme Associate will support the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s country programme by providing and managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project implementation and following up on recommendations.

The Programme Associate will apply established systems and procedures and assists in the creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information relevant to population and development, reproductive health and gender issues. 

He/she is expected to be instrumental in facilitating programme/project implementation using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures. 

The l Programme Associate is expected to maintain collaborative relationships with all programme and project staff as well as government counterparts.

THE CANDIDATES:
