Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Jobs: Vacancy for Head of Corporate Affairs


Our client is the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the apex regulator of the capital market in Nigeria. SEC’s mission is to develop and regulate a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent and efficient to contribute to the nation’s economic development. Having set some ambitious goals, the Organization is seeking highly motivated and result-oriented professionals to take up various leadership responsibilities:

JOB TITLE: Head of Corporate Affairs (ES00582)

THE CANDIDATES: 

The successful candidate will perform the followings:

1. Reporting to the Executive Commissioner, Finance and Administration, 

2. The successful candidate will manage the Organisation’s public relations and corporate image and ensure effective press coverage of its activities,

3. The ideal candidate will also interface with the PR firms retained by the Organisation, 

4. Assist in the implementation of its marketing strategies, as well as promoting the image of the Organisation by serving as an interface between formal and informal stakeholders. 

Specifically, the candidate will:
 
1. Formulate, direct and co-ordinate the Organisation’s public and media relations policies and activities to promote the services and image of the organisation,
 
2. Formulate appropriate communication plan to inform and carry all stakeholders along,
 
3. Communicate the Organisation’s strategic goals and vision to stakeholders,
 
4. Proactively build relationships and networks, create enduring impression and goodwill for the Organisation,
 
5. Manage the corporate social responsibility of the Organisation,
 
6. Liaise with a range of media outlets and coordinate media coverage of the Organisation’s activities and programmes,
 
7. Plan and direct public relations programmes designed to create and maintain favourable public image for the Organisation,
 
8. Coordinate corporate gift policy and implementation, as well as oversee protocol services,

REQUIREMENTS:

1. A good first degree in Mass Communication, Social Sciences or any related discipline from a reputable institution. A relevant postgraduate degree will be an advantage.
 
2. Membership of relevant professional bodies such as NIPR is desirable.
 
3. Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ post-qualification experience in corporate affairs/media relations in a public or private sector organisation with at least five (5) years at senior management level.
 
4. Strong relationship with advertising agencies, printers and other service providers to develop and implement appropriate advertising and promotional campaigns for the Organisation.
 
5. Knowledge of media relations, public relations advertising and external communications is essential

In addition, eligible candidates for this position
 
1. Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills in both formal and informal settings with key stakeholders.
 
2. Excellent leadership, planning and organization, as well as people management skills,
 
3. Excellent relationship management and strategic networking skills at the highest level in both private and public sectors,
 
4. High sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability.
 
5. Proficiency in the use of computer applications.
