JOB VACANCY:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Nigerians for appointment to the post of Bursar, University of Benin. Benin City, Nigeria.
POST TITLE: Bursar
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- The Bursar is a Principal Officer and as the Chief Financial Officer of the University is responsible to the Vice-chancellor for the day to day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
THE PERSON:
- Applicants for the post of Bursar must have in the past exhibited considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of financial resource management,
- Applicants must be in good health and able to endure the rigours of the duties of the Bursar,
- Also, candidates must be found to possess the following qualities: vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life.
In addition, candidates should have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect and arouse cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University.
Candidates are to write in not more than five hundred (500) words, their vision for the University in- fends generation and management for the next five years.
Prospective candidates must show innovative approaches to the running of an ICT-driven Bursary working at the highest level of efficiency to eliminate time wasting, bureaucracy, bottlenecks and fraud.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Accounting as well as professionally recognized Accountancy qualifications, e.g. ACMA, AQA, CPA, ACCA CNA,
- Possession of a higher degree will be an added advantage.
PLUS:
Fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience, at least 5 of which must have been in top managerial positions including Deputy Bursar in a University setting or similar institutions.
Candidates should in addition not be more than 55 years on appointment.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
The successful candidate shall hold office for a period of five (5) years, but may however be reappointed for a further period of five years (and no more) on such terms and conditions applicable to Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council.
